Šimuni is a small fishing village situated on the southwest coast of the island of Pag, halfway between Novalja and the city of Pag, which are respectively only a 15 minutes drive away from the car-ferry landing of Žigljen and 30 minutes drive from the bridge «Paški most». Šimuni is a tourist location, naturally characterised with pine-trees and holm-oak, thus forming an oasis on the island where rock formations are dominant and trees are rare.
Šimuni has three natural coves. ACI marina ”Šimuni” with 200 berths and 70 dry berths, and is situated in the western cove and provides a safe anchor for vessels. A fishing boat harbour constitutes the central cove where freshly caught fish is sold at the fishmonger’s on the spot just after returning from sea. Pebbled beaches cover the whole length of the south cove. Aside from swimming, the clear and clean sea is especially suitable for spear-fishing or diving.
Šimuni is an ideal holiday spot for those who like to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a Mediterranean setting and to allow the senses to savour the aromatic fragrances of various herbs: sage, everlast, rosemary, sweet bay, lavender…
There are also a two shops, a few restaurants and a tourist office located in Šimuni.
Novalja and the city of Pag are larger cultural and historic centres, where concerts and exhibitions are held, and which also offers entertainment and all night parties, especially in the cove of Zrće, where a few disco clubs stay open all night.
